[But what is a shaman...!?
A shaman is a person who knows how to reach contact with the divinities, les souls of the dead and other roaming spirits. But over all, he can use the power of these spirits to accomplish incredible acts. He also knows how to use the knowledge of the divinities, use the spirits for healing or even bring a dead person back to life. Yoh's specialty for example is to meet disappeared historical heroes. Of course the talent of shamanism is reserved to the elite which is also the reason why these individuals are so respected in society. We can find shamans everywhere in the world. For example in China, the Native Americans and in New Guinea where they are still in activity. In Japan, in the North East region, the itako have the power to call those in the other world and to communicate with them. In the Anami region, the yuta use the power of the spirits to do divinations or to heal and continue to attract the respect of the inhabitants.]
